Manufactured housing: an affordable solution to homeownership |
|
|
According to a new report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies, home prices are increasing in nearly all markets throughout the country, and a 20 percent down payment is out of reach for many first-time home buyers. A manufactured home can be an affordable option for millions of low- and moderate income American families. According to recent research, the average charge per square foot for a new, manufactured home is $48, less than half the $101 per square foot for the structure of a site-built home. June is National Homeownership Month, and in this issue we share stories of how the NeighborWorks network is creating opportunities for families to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities. |
